AI & Blockchain Integration in Cyber Physical Systems

Host organisation

University of Granada

Project Description

The project, "Secure IT framework for autonomous wind farm operation and maintenance," aims to build a secure, trustable, explainable, and interactive structural health monitoring (SHM) platform for wind farms. Utilizing a combination of AI algorithms, decentralized knowledge graphs, and blockchain, the project focuses on enhancing operational security and efficiency. The methodology involves integrating AI for monitoring component health and predicting failures, blockchain for ensuring data integrity and secure sharing, and smart contracts for automating maintenance tasks. This framework seeks to provide autonomous decision support with explainable AI, establish a robust data privacy and security protocol, and undergo rigorous testing for real-world deployment. The core technologies include AI models, blockchain frameworks like Ethereum or Hyperledger Fabric, decentralized data management, and programming languages such as Python and Solidity. The ultimate goal is a resilient and transparent wind farm maintenance operation.

Background

Hailing from Karachi, Pakistan with MS in Cyber Security and BS in Management Information Systems from National University of Science & Technology, I have served in the Navy for 12 years with roles in CommSec, Naval Warfare, Navigation, Leadership, System Admin, Cyber/Elec/Info Warfare and Audits. I have worked on ASRs Tech at CPLC and Twinciti AI and on AI Image Recognition Technology with Syllaby AI. I have taught AI & CyS subjects in NUST-PNEC and Iqra University. Beyond my professional life, I have a wide range of personal interests and hobbies, including music composition, playing instruments like piano and guitar, singing, blogging, writing, research, teaching course designing, chess, various sports such as swimming, sailing, football, basketball, cricket, and calisthenics, as well as coaching, public speaking, and podcasting. I have published a book on Open-Source Technology with Taylor & Francis Group and I am designing Data Ops Landscape for CD Foundation which is backed by Linux Foundation.

Motivation

My motivation is driven by a strong desire to utilize my diverse skills across AI, Cyber Security, Blockchain, and Open-Source technology to contribute to impactful advancements. I am passionate about solving complex problems and developing innovative solutions by integrating tools from various domains. Educating others is equally important to me; my teaching experience and authorship reflect this commitment to sharing knowledge and guiding future professionals. I thrive on tackling new challenges, demonstrated by my journey from naval operations to cutting-edge AI development. Pursuing a PhD in these elite technology domains truly excites me, as it aligns my work with my passion, making it feel like playtime rather than labor, and allowing me to contribute to positive technological change.
